God of New Beginning
In this encouraging message, Minister George shares how God’s faithfulness shines brightest in our most difficult seasons. Drawing from personal testimonies of business trials and miraculous breakthroughs, he reminds the congregation that every test is part of God’s process toward divine perfection and a new beginning. Anchored in Psalm 138:7-8 and 1 Peter 5:10, this sermon calls believers to trust the God who restores, protects, and brings His promises to completion.
Overview
Minister George preached from Psalm 138:7–8, encouraging believers that God is actively present in seasons of trouble and is faithful to bring them through to a new beginning. Drawing on a personal testimony involving a shipping container, solar panels, and unexpected provision, he illustrated how God can reverse what the enemy intends for harm. The sermon closes with 1 Peter 5:10, anchoring the message in the truth that suffering is temporary, purposeful, and productive — leading to maturity, faith, and ultimate establishment in Christ.
Key Scripture Passages
- Psalm 138:7–8 — The anchor text; declares that God revives his people in the midst of trouble, stretches out his hand against enemies, and will not abandon the work he has begun.
- 1 Peter 5:10 — The closing scripture; promises that after a season of suffering, the God of all grace will personally perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle the believer.
Sermon Outline
- God Revives in the Midst of Trouble (Psalm 138:7–8)
- The psalmist does not say "if" trouble comes, but "though I walk in the midst of trouble" — affliction is acknowledged as a real experience of the believer.
- God's response is active: He revives, He stretches out His hand, His right hand saves.
- Personal Testimony: A Reversal in July
- Minister George shared his experience of a shipping container delayed at inspection, daily demurrage fees of $200 accumulating, and the financial pressure this created.
- Through timely provision, the payment was made, the container was released, and a new business opportunity emerged — a contractor began directing free solar panel pickups to the minister for export to Ghana.
- What the devil intended as a setback, God used as a setup for a new open door.
- The minister had declared July as a month of divine turnaround, and the testimony confirmed that declaration.
- The Process Must Happen
- The path to the final destination is a process — it takes time, and that is by God's design.
- The process may be uncomfortable and hard, but it is not purposeless.
- The process produces maturity, deeper faith, and a fuller knowledge of God's faithfulness.
- Trust the One Who Is Shaping You (1 Peter 5:10)
- God is the God of all grace — our trials do not negate His grace; they operate within it.
- After suffering "a while," God promises four outcomes: perfecting, establishing, strengthening, and settling the believer.
- Suffering is compared to a school examination — tests reveal and confirm the knowledge and character that have been built up.
- Minister George testified that he now faces tests with his "head straight," confident that big things follow.
Theological Insights
- Divine Preservation Through, Not From, Trouble: Psalm 138:7 does not promise immunity from trouble but God's sustaining presence within it. This aligns with John 16:33 ("In the world you will have tribulation, but take heart; I have overcome the world") and Isaiah 43:2 ("When you pass through the waters, I will be with you").
- The Right Hand of God: The "right hand" in Psalm 138:7 is a recurring biblical image of God's saving power and authority (see Exodus 15:6; Psalm 20:6; Isaiah 41:10). In the ancient Near East, the right hand was the hand of strength, blessing, and covenant loyalty.
- God Completes What He Begins: Psalm 138:8 — "The Lord will perfect that which concerneth me" — is one of Scripture's clearest statements of divine faithfulness to the individual. This anticipates Philippians 1:6: "He who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ."
- Suffering as Sanctifying Process: The sermon's emphasis on the process producing maturity echoes James 1:3–4 ("the testing of your faith produces steadfastness, and steadfastness its perfect work") and Romans 5:3–4 ("tribulation produces patience, character, and hope"). Suffering in the New Testament is consistently portrayed as formative rather than merely punitive.
- God Redeeming Enemy Schemes: The testimony illustrates the Genesis 50:20 principle ("What you intended for evil, God intended for good") — the adversarial pressure became the occasion for a new and greater open door.
- The God of All Grace (1 Peter 5:10): Peter's designation of God as "the God of all grace" is theologically significant. Every grace — saving, sustaining, sanctifying, glorifying — originates in Him. Suffering does not indicate a withdrawal of grace but occurs under its sovereign umbrella.
- The Fourfold Promise of 1 Peter 5:10: Scholars note four distinct Greek verbs in this verse — katartizō (perfect/restore), stērizō (establish/fix firmly), sthenoō (strengthen), and themeliōō (settle/lay a foundation). Together they describe a comprehensive spiritual consolidation that only comes through the experience of tested faith.
Word & Context Study
- "Revive" (Psalm 138:7) — Hebrew chayah: The Hebrew verb translated "revive" literally means to give life, to preserve alive, or to cause to live again. It carries the sense of resuscitation from the very edge of death. This is not mere encouragement — it is God imparting life into a situation that has begun to die. The same root is used in Ezekiel 37 when God breathes life into the valley of dry bones.
- "Perfect" (Psalm 138:8; 1 Peter 5:10): In Psalm 138:8, the Hebrew gamar means to complete, to bring to an end or full accomplishment. In 1 Peter 5:10, the Greek katartizō was used in the ancient world for mending fishing nets (Matthew 4:21) and setting broken bones — it implies restoring something to its proper, fully functioning condition. Both terms together communicate that God is not half-finished with His people; He carries His work to full completion.
- "A While" (1 Peter 5:10) — Greek oligon: This word means a little while, a brief or small amount. Peter's use is deliberately consoling — whatever suffering the believer endures, it is, from God's eternal perspective, brief and bounded. It echoes Paul's language in 2 Corinthians 4:17: "our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all."
- Demurrage Fees as Cultural Context: Minister George's testimony is rooted in the world of international shipping and freight forwarding. Demurrage is the charge levied on a shipper when cargo (here, a container) is not moved within the allowed free time at a port or inspection facility. The daily accumulation of these fees creates exponential financial pressure — a vivid real-world picture of trouble that compounds if unaddressed, making the timely provision and release all the more striking as an act of divine intervention.
Application
- Do not abandon the process. If you are in a difficult season, recognize that the discomfort you feel is not evidence that God has left — it may be evidence that He is actively shaping you. Refuse to quit before the completion.
- Make declarations of faith over your season. Minister George publicly declared July a month of divine turnaround. Speak the Word of God over your circumstances. Faith confessed aloud is faith activated (Romans 10:10).
- Reframe tests as a sign of progress. Just as examinations in school confirm learning, spiritual tests confirm and deepen faith. Change your response to testing from dread to expectation, knowing that passing through produces something that bypassing never could.
- Look for God's reversals. What appears to be a dead end in your situation may be the exact point at which God introduces an unexpected open door. Stay alert to how God redeems the very things the enemy uses to oppress you.
- Trust the Shaper, not just the outcome. Minister George said, "Trust the one who is shaping you." This calls for relational trust in God's character and intentions, not merely hoping for a good result. Surrender the process to Him, not only the destination.
- Rest in God's commitment to finish what He started. Psalm 138:8 and Philippians 1:6 together assure you that the same God who initiated His work in your life has pledged to complete it. You are not a project He has abandoned.
Reflection & Discussion Questions
- Psalm 138:7 says God revives us while we are still "in the midst of trouble" — not necessarily after the trouble ends. What does this tell us about when and how God works? Have you experienced God's reviving presence before your situation fully resolved?
- Minister George testified that what the devil intended to break him became the very channel for a new business opportunity. Can you identify a moment in your own life when God reversed what the enemy meant for harm? What did that reversal teach you about God's sovereignty?
- The sermon emphasizes that the process is necessary — it cannot be bypassed. Are there areas in your life where you have been trying to skip the process or praying to be removed from it rather than carried through it? What might God be producing in you through that process?
- 1 Peter 5:10 promises that suffering will lead to being perfected, established, strengthened, and settled. Which of these four outcomes do you feel you most need in your current season, and why?
- Minister George compared spiritual tests to school examinations, saying he now faces them with his "head straight" because he knows big things follow. How has your perspective on difficulty changed (or how do you want it to change) as a result of this message?
- Psalm 138:8 declares: "The Lord will perfect that which concerneth me — thy mercy, O Lord, endureth forever." The psalmist grounds his confidence not in circumstances but in God's enduring mercy (hesed — covenant lovingkindness). How does remembering God's covenant faithfulness change the way you endure a prolonged trial?
Conclusion
Minister George's message is a clarion call to hold fast in the face of adversity, rooted in the unshakeable confidence that God is both present in trouble and purposeful through it. Psalm 138:7–8 assures every believer that the Lord who stretched out His right hand to deliver Israel will stretch it out for them — reviving what is dying, restraining what threatens, and completing what He has begun. The difficult seasons of life are not interruptions to God's plan; they are instruments of it. As 1 Peter 5:10 promises, after a little while of suffering, the God of all grace personally takes up the work of perfecting, establishing, strengthening, and settling His people. Whatever container is stuck, whatever debt is mounting, whatever door appears closed — trust the One who is shaping you. He has never abandoned an unfinished work, and He will not start with you.

for bringing us all here in good health.
I also will thank Apostle,
the leader of this church,
for giving me this opportunity to come here
and give this sermon this morning.
Hallelujah.
I love the month of July.
i love the month of july july is such a special month hallelujah
if you have realized here in the united states most of us tend to take our vacations
around the month of july hallelujah now i was asking myself questions
that why do people choose this very month
to go into this kind of celebration
to enjoy the fitness of their work.
Hallelujah.
I was asking myself these questions.
Come to think of it.
Biblical scholars
have identified
the month of July
to be the month
of divine perfection.
Hallelujah.
Biblical scholars have sat down.
They've dwelled
into the word.
And they have come up with this idea
that this very month,
the month of July,
is a special month.
And that is why
most people
take their time in the month of july to take their vacations to take a break from work
to to to establish themselves and to know that god has been through them with them all the month
from january to july hallelujah and i want to assure you that in this month of july
God is going to give you a new beginning.
Hallelujah.
And that is the more reason why I have
titled my message this morning.
The God of new beginning.
Hallelujah.
Hallelujah.
When you hear about the God of new beginning,
what does it tell you what comes to your mind that there is a god of a new beginning hallelujah
remember
the month of july it's a month of divine perfection hallelujah
but divine perfection starts with a new beginning
before everything will become perfect in the eyes of the lord or the lord will set you up high
with divine perfection there has to be a new beginning hallelujah
but a new beginning
starts
with a divine connection
hallelujah
a new beginning starts
with a divine connection
and when you get
the divine connections
you swim
in divine favors
Hallelujah.
And when the divine favors come,
you get something called divine acceleration.
Hallelujah.
And this acceleration is where it's going to take you to your perfection.
Hallelujah.
Like I said, I want you guys to engage with me whilst I engage with you.
If you have to shout a big hallelujah, go ahead and say hallelujah.
Hallelujah.
Now let us remember that whilst God has all these good things for us, whilst we are swimming in the divine connections and the divine favors and the divine acceleration, the enemy is around the corner somewhere.
planning all kinds of counter attacks just to make sure all those things
doesn't come to fruitfulness hallelujah
and don't forget that everything that god has planned for you
the enemy sees through it hallelujah
the enemy is always looking
to see how he can bring you down
so that the plans that God has for you
is not going to come to fruitfulness
hallelujah
I have encountered
divine
connections
I have encountered divine
accelerations
but before i did not know you know i hear apostle always talking about it
that there is some perfection that there is some perfection that god can take you
in a level that you can never understand
i have not encountered it hallelujah but for like a month ago
i was surprised
because in my line of business
shipping to africa you need to at least have at least two cars
for you to be able to load a container that is a must because if not you are going to run into
depth hallelujah and i see all kinds of people in my businesses loading containers here and there
every day every night so i was asking god i said god when am i going to be in this level that these
people are i didn't know how they get to buy those cars but then i started doing my research
one guy told me oh George you know what we have clients in Ghana that sell cars they have like a
dealership so they call us and say okay we need this brand of car we need this brand of car this
is how much we want to afford to buy the car they send them the money and then they buy the car to
them and then whatever they have as low they put it together and ship so I was like oh okay this
sounds like a good plan so i started putting word across back in ghana with people that i know to
connect with these car dealership to see if i can find somebody i can do business with hallelujah
but within about five six months nothing was happening i continued to pray
and then god told me something in the middle of the night i woke up and i i hear god saying that
you you have to buy yourself you have to buy yourself so i woke up in the morning and i said
I have to buy these cars myself.
Okay, that is another plan.
Let me see how much fans we have in the account.
And I started buying one or two cars.
And that brought me to speed.
In the business, hallelujah.
That brought me into speed, hallelujah.
But that is not it.
Like I was just saying,
the devil sees everything every plan that god has for you and they have to counter attack so
that everything that you have started is not going to come to freefulness hallelujah
i know most of us know how doing business is gonna is just just picture this you know i'm
sweating here i'm scrambling here putting money together buying these cars so i can load my
containers right now when the vehicle gets to ghana for my salesperson to make sure this car
sells fast look these guys enjoy enjoying the car rather than selling it fast hallelujah
so that becomes stagnant for me i'm waiting and i'm calling and so what is going on they say oh
this time there is no money in the system.
People can come and buy.
I said, let's reduce the price a little bit.
At least I'm giving them options to get rid of these cars
so we can buy more and ship more, right?
Now somebody went to the dealership where I work with the guy.
And then when he came back, he told me, he said,
George, you know what?
These people are not serious.
these guys are not serious they want to to drive these flashy cars pretending is theirs
they are not ready to sell them
so i went on my knees and i cried to god hallelujah i said god i am trying to do things right
and I know you are my backbone
but how can I advance
in this situation?
I have a bishop friend in Ghana
we were childhood friends
in high school
he had a very big church
apostle knows him
his name is Bishop Charles Sapon
now he have this member
in his church
this man has the biggest
funeral home in Ghana
so he
buys these coaches
to transport the casket
to the funeral homes
to the cemetery
and all that
this man has almost about
30 cars
that run that business for him
I know the man
mean when i go to ghana we meet i know what he does but we have never been that close one day i
was here just after my prayers and he called me he says george you know what um somebody in the u.s
was telling me about how good you do your business i am struggling because i have this guy in virginia
that i do business with but um no the way i want to go in speed this guy is not helping me
so i'm going to try you for the first time and see how you run your business
oh i started jumping i started jumping i started jumping i said god you are great hallelujah
so he he he sent me a car that he wants to buy two of them you know these are the long coaches
that you know we put the casket in to travel to take you know the dead body to the cemetery and
all that he has 34 pieces in ghana so he gave me the list of what he wants i went online i saw them
I beted on them, bought them
before you could bring me the money
I've already paid for it
so he called me and said
Georgia how much do we have to pay
to get the car here
the car has been already transported
to my warehouse
I said the car is here, I showed him pictures
he said what
this is the guy I want to do business with
hallelujah
so from then
this guy started sending me money
and money and money
I bought so much cars
for him I didn't even have anywhere to store them
I have to pay for storage
to store them before I ship them
hallelujah
the devil wasn't happy
the devil was not happy hallelujah But the devil cannot win in this race that we
are with God. Hallelujah.
Look at your neighbor and tell them
that in this month of July,
in this month of July,
God is going to do
great things.
God is going to do new things.
Hallelujah.
so i shipped and shipped i was doing two three containers a week
i shipped and i shipped one time he wanted to come here he came he says jord you know i've
already booked my hotels in these places and all that i said okay you know what um at least you
have to come home and get something to eat he came to our house he was very comfortable
and I said, Honorable, you know what?
You don't even have to pay for this hotel.
Let's cancel it. We have more rooms here
that you can lodge.
He was so pleased.
And he says,
George, you know what?
I have never encountered anybody
like you.
When it comes to transparency
in business.
To this day,
we speak every single
single day about business hallelujah but like i said the devil the enemy is not happy at this
situation and he makes plans as to what he wants to do so in this our line of business too let me
tell you something you do not want to encounter the customs services in your business
so just about two weeks ago i had to do a container he haven't let me buy any cars for
for now because the cars that we took he have just started you know putting them together you
know so it was a whole lot of money so he says joe you know what let's take a little break
so these guys called me they said we have um solar panels we want to ship to ghana
and then there were other two people who say they have two cars so i said you know what okay i can
make this work took the solar panels charged them for what they want to pay for it got the two cars
loaded the container gone to the port my job was done i keep telling you the devil was not happy
hallelujah he was planning so my brokers that i get a container from emailed me last week
it says george your container has been put on hold by the customs and preventive services
now that was bad news that was bad enough to make me sick because you know what with these customs
and preventive services right they have a policy of choosing any container randomly to do an
inspection on it but that inspection alone can cost you all the way up to fifteen thousand dollars
and that is not any fault of yours but you you're gonna have to pay for that penalty after they do
the inspection whether you like it or not no some can even run you up to forty thousand because guess
what these custom people don't have the manpower to do the inspection so they hire a third party
these third parties to you know they do the job anyway there are so much for them to do that
they can keep up
and i told myself the devil is a liar hallelujah so i started crying to my god
And this is when I challenge my God.
I say, God, look at me.
Me and my children and my wife.
Every Sunday, we are here doing your work.
You said thousands shall fall on my side.
Ten thousand shall fall on my right side.
But I will see no evil.
For your hand is with me. Hallelujah.
so God why am I going through this
you know sometimes this situation
can get to you so much
that
you start thinking
of some nonsenses right
I say my God have you forsaken me
or what
but like I said
the devil is a liar
no this situation happened when we were having our one week fasting hallelujah
and i was involved in it all the way to the top i cried to god
so i called my brokers say we haven't heard anything from them for a whole week
so i took it upon myself to go over there to their office in elizabeth i didn't even tell my wife
I went over there
and
spoke to one of the officers
he says, oh George, you know what
the container has been inspected already
they are going to do a second
inspection on it
and
just hold on
they will get back to you
so the following day I have an email
from my brokers
that
the container
has been done.
I didn't even want to ask them
how much I'm supposed to pay
because I was so
scared.
So they said,
just send us an email and then we
email you the bill, the invoice and everything.
So quickly I sent them the email
and when I
opened the email, they returned to me
it was only
$4,400
$164. Hallelujah.
I told myself the devil is a liar.
Let us look at
a passage from Psalm
138.
138. Psalm 138
verse 7 and 8.
Psalm 138
verse 7 and 8
it says
though I walk
in the midst of trouble
thou will revive me
thou
shall stretch forth
thy hand against the
wrath of my enemies
and thy
right hand shall save me hallelujah so quickly i organized myself made a payment because they
they have to receive the payment for them to transport the container from the inspection area
to where they can load it on the vessel and as long as you haven't paid and the container is
sitting there they charging you 200 every day so imagine you don't have the money the funds
to make that payment so i paid for the container the container was gone
and i was asking myself that how did this all happen i was thanking my god
so i told these people that gave me all this stuff to do this container that this is what happened
and one of the guys that gave me the solar panels right
he is a contractor here he deals with all the solar panels installations around new jersey
philadelphia and other places so he told me he said jorge you know what i know how these things
can be challenging but i've been doing this solar panel works for too long i am tired i don't want
do it again and um i still have people calling me but this is what i can do for you from now on
every solar panel company that calls me to come and pick them up george i'm going to call you
and it's going to be for free and you can ship it to ghana and find buyers and these things
are very expensive in ghana yes so now the devil who was trying to bring me down
the devil who was trying to bring me down look at how god turned things around because i was saying
this month of july this month of july god is going to turn us around god is going to
take this around for your good. Hallelujah.
I'm closing.
If you are here this morning
and you are going through
some difficulties,
if you are going through
a difficult season,
do not lose heart.
God is not finished with you.
Amen.
It is a process
for you to get to the final destination.
It is a process.
But I want us all to understand
that this process takes time.
This process has to happen
for you to see the hand of the Lord.
Hallelujah.
Hallelujah.
This process may be uncomfortable.
Yes.
this process may be
hardened
but this process
produces maturity
it makes you mature in the Lord
to give you deeper faith
hallelujah
so I am encouraging you this morning
trust the one who
is shaping you
hallelujah
because he is faithful
to complete what he has begun.
Hallelujah.
My closing scripture will be
from 1 Peter 5, verse 10.
1 Peter 5, verse 10.
by the God of all grace
who has called unto us
his eternal glory by Christ
Jesus
after ye have
suffered a while
will make you perfect
establish
and
strengthen
and settle you. Hallelujah.
So no matter what you are going through,
it is just a test.
Remember when you go to school,
from the time you start to the end of the term,
you have to be tested for the people to know,
the teachers to know what kind of knowledge you have acquired.
And test comes with perfection.
So in this journey that we are in,
we do have to expect these tests
but I'm promising you
and I am encouraging you
look now I can tell you from my view
from my experience
that if I see
any test coming
I am coming with my head straight
because I know after the test
there are big things happening
I thank God
in the name of the Father,
in the name of the Son,
and in the name of the Holy Ghost.
Amen.
Amen.
